Canteen Service

An Overview
The MPPS canteen is entirely P&C run and provides a fantastic service for children and parents each week. It's also one of our biggest fundraisers. Every Friday over 400 children are fed recess and lunch. This adds approximately $30,000 a year for P&C fundraising.
Our canteen prides itself on maintaining the WA School Canteen Associations 'traffic light' food grade system, ensuring that we continue to offer healthier versions of convenient, pre-prepared meals, snacks and beverages. It is particularly useful in our school where extensive food preparation is not permitted under current Food Hygiene Regulations.
Finally, with sustainability being front of mind, we are committed to operating our canteen to be as green and sustainable as possible.
Food Orders
Many students order lunch on Fridays which is then either made by parent volunteers on-site, or purchased from local suppliers. An updated menu is below.
We use Spriggy for lunch orders. Lunch orders need to be made by Thursday evening.
If you're new to the school or don't have an existing account it's quick and easy to set up a new account with Spriggy. Sign-up here →
If you are using an existing account, please remember to update your kids' details:
- year
- class name
- teacher
The P&C also runs sausage sizzles twice a term to raise funds. These orders are also made viaSpriggy
Over-the-counter cash sales are available for recess only. All the items are $1 each, and while students are waiting in line, fresh fruit is provided.
At lunch, students are able to purchase ice slushies for $1.50 each. These are locally sourced, and meet the WA School Canteen Associations traffic light standard. To minimise our green footprint, all our slushies are served in recyclable cups, with recyclable cutlery.
We need volunteers!
The Canteen is entirely run by parent volunteers. We are incredibly fortunate to have a Canteen Coordinator and a team of volunteers to keep our canteen running smoothly each year.
Each week we require five volunteers to help in the canteen. The following shifts are available online here https://signup.com/go/HyLOxhE .
x2 Morning (08.25 - 11.35)
x1 Middle (10.25 - 13.15)
x2 Afternoon (11.30 - 14.00)
Please spread the word and get your names down for these shifts, even if it is not your class rostered on to help with the canteen that week. Your class rep will let you know when your class is rostered on for the year. (Attached semester one canteen class roster).
For safety reasons we do not allow younger siblings in the Canteen.
If you're unable to volunteer, please find someone to fill a shift for you so we can stay open each week - grandparents and other carers welcome!
Food and cash donations
On the week your class is assigned to the canteen, an excel file with all the canteen donate items and donation options, will be sent to you via your class representative. In this document you will need to place your family name against the item you wish to purchase and donate that week.
Once purchased, please drop your donated items to the canteen on Friday mornings from 8:15am.
If you are unable to donate items, and would prefer to donate money, there are $10 donation options at the bottom of the excel sheet list. When placing your child's order via QuickQliq, the 'Canteen Donate' option will be available to you to pay for your donation.
These donations assist the P&C to secure wholesale goods from suppliers such as Bakers Delight and Culleys bakery.
We need a donation total of $260 each week to ensure our costs are covered.
The children (and parents) love having the canteen. Through everyone's support we can keep it going strong! 🙏
